The purpose of this blog is to draw attention to one of the most important issues in the media, which is the portrayal of minorities. This topic is extremely important not only because it directly influences public opinion about the minorities but the whole social order as well. The truth is that both issues are deeply linked together. By influencing the public opinion on a minority the lives of the members of that minority are influenced, which is consequently going to influence the lives of the majority.
There can be no pretence that media always report on all issues regarding minorities fairly and objectively. Even though we live in the 21st century, the information age, when all the news channels claim to be the most objective and unbiased; minorities are still underrepresented and often stereotyped.
